Welding is going on today. They're producing some tool prototype for their company and it involves welding. It also involves a whole wide range of curses that would make any sailor proud.

Welding is this very odd sort of thing. People actually pay to get degrees in welding, yet, you can go blind doing it. Where's the upside in that? I guess part of it is cool because you can pretend you're some weird mad scientist in some lab welding together pieces of your new husband/wife/significant other/dog.

Welding: it's the inspiration for the haiku of the day:

The welder smells bad,
Making my screen flickery,
And blinding neighbors.
